If we stick to an operational definition of "lightweight", LEAP is more
lightweight
than JADE because with LEAP you can deploy FIPA agents on resource
constrained
devices like cell phones and PDA, which you cannot do with JADE alone. This
holds
independently on how this is achieved (starting from JADE or writing a
FIPA platform
from scratch).

But, also, your syllogysm is flawed:

True.

False. If you need something, this doesn't imply that you are an addition to
that something.
Counterexample: two entities may need each other without actually being the
same, whereas
the 'being an addition to' relation is a partial order relationship, so it's
antisymmetric.
If we consider that two lovers need each other, then the U2 song called
'One' brightly expresses
this in its chorus "We're One, but we're not the same, we need to carry each
other,..."

Quod Erat Demonstrandum ;-)

Practically speaking, LEAP adapts the JADE kernel to J2ME CLDC environments
by replacing
some classes, by adding communication support based on J2ME CLDC APIs and
by, of course,
removing J2SE-specific modules such as IIOP, RMI and code mobility.

then how can it be more lightweight than JADE?
