The members of the LEAP project are delighted to announce that the LEAP
platform version 2.0 has just been released open-source on September
26th 2001, and is now available for download on the LEAP website at
http://leap.crm-paris.com.
JADE-LEAP is a Lightweight Extensible Agent Platform produced by the
LEAP consortium and is probably the smallest-footprint FIPA-compliant
agent platform in the World!
This remarkable feat has been achieved by adopting, adapting and
improving parts of JADE, the Java Agent DEvelopment framework. More in
details JADE-LEAP is a synergy of the LEAP libraries and the JADE platform.
The former puts the emphasis on ubiquitous deployment via reduced
footprint and compatibility with mobile Java environments.
The latter puts the emphasis on implementation and desktop deployment
via an extensive developer's toolkit and compatibility with standard and
'heavier' Java environments.
As a result JADE-LEAP can be deployed on different types of devices,
networks and JVMs, whilst offering an homogeneous set of APIs and
ultimately allowing ubiquitous deployment of agent services and
applications.
The LEAP consortium gratefully acknowledges the benefits and advances
made to the Lightweight Extensible Agent Platform through the use of the
Open Source agent platform JADE, and the strong technical support
provided by the JADE team.
Best regards,
The LEAP Consortium.
