Hi,

1) There are no known memory problem. We can run a container with 1000 agents for days. Note however that, if you are using the version 2.6 of JADE and your agents exchange a lot of messages there can be a problem with RMI.
This problem has been solved in JADE2.61.

2) In JADE2.61 you can compile using ANT (exactly the same in windows and unix).

Bye

Subject: [jade-develop] two questions: memory & unix

Hi everyone!

Question 1:

I'm running a simple jade agents demo on PC with approximately 50 agents working. However, one of this java process(containing 12 agents) always runs out of memory after a few hours. What the agents in this process do is just to keep receiving and sending ACL messages with some simple objects as content. No complicate computation involved. So is there any known memory problem in Jade(i know there is some in FIPAOS)? and any solutions?

Question 2:
I'm trying to install Jade 2.5 on UNIX and my knowledge on UNIX is very
primitive. So how can I run those .bat files on UNIX? ie. makejade.bat
Any help?

Thanks!

Peng
